Channa Pulao by chef Tahir Chudhry




Yummy channa /chick peas pulao recipe by chef Tahir Chudhry.  As per chef this is his mother's recipe. If you love garlic flavor in rice then you sure will love this recipe as well.



Ingredients:

Oil                                                    ¼ cup
Cahhney ( chick peas)                    1 cup - boiled
Rice                                                1 ½ cup
Onion                                              1 medium / 1 cup
Tomato                                            2 / ½ cup
Salt                                                  per taste
Clove                                               4
Green chili                                       3-4
Cinnamon                                        1 inch piece
Black pepper                                   8-10
Red chili powder                             ½ tsp
Zeera                                             1 tsp
Tara garam masala                         1 tsp
Ginger garlic paste                          2tsp



Method:

  • Heat some oil in pan , add sliced onion. Fry onion till light golden brown.
  • Add thinly sliced tomato , cook them till soft.
  • Add ginger garlic paste.  Also add clove, cinnamon, green chili, black pepper, , tara garam masala ,salt and red chili powder . Mix these spices and add water . As soon  as water starts to boil add boiled channey.
  • Wash rice 3, 4 times  and add them to pan as well and stir once.
  • Let rice cook till they  surface.  You should not see much water only water bubbles. Give dam at this point.
  • Keep on dam for about 5-10 minutes.
  • When ready  dish out and serve with raita and salad.
